Oven Baked Brussel Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 500g Brussel Sprouts
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and cracked black pepper to season

I had never eaten brussel sprouts for fear of all the taste criticisms I'd heard. "They taste like dirt cabbages." "Grandma food, boiled and flavourless." LIES! They're delicious and this recipe is super simple.

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Trim the base of the sprout, cut in half lengthwise and don't stress if some of the outside leaves come off. They're bonus crispy bits. Throw into a baking tray with olive oil, salt and pepper and shake to distribute evenly. Oven bake for 35-40 minutes, turning once or twice (feel free to eat the crispy bits as they start to get super toasty). Once done the spouts should be browned and toasted on the outside, soft on the inside and fantastic to add to a variety of salads, or just to eat on their own. Serve immediately! What crispy bits?
