Gianni's Kitchen - Review
Every time I talk about this now, I have a Pavlov reaction. Three times I've described the soul elating spiritual pasta experience I had at Gianni's Kitchen in Newstead, and all three times I've had to stop talking due to the overwhelming mouth-watering that suddenly materialises. It's involuntary, I'm sorry for my sudden lisp and dental inadequacy.
The pasta special of the night was Seafood Carbonara. This baby came out with crispy guanciale - pork cheek cured similarly to pancetta - about half of the ocean, and the most decadently rich creamy egg sauce with parmesan cheese. I physically couldn't have eaten the entire serving in the standard dining time, and without the selflessness of my good friend Reece, I would have sat there for at least another hour before I was scraping the plate. He was fortunate I was willing to share, it was probably the wine.
Speaking of which, the pinot noir, and the service were impressively flawless. We were fortunate to speak directly with the chef and pay him our sincere compliments. Humbly he was gracious.
For someone who eats a LOT of pasta, and has to exercise for fear of turning into a voluptuous Italian Nonna, saying this was the Best Pasta of My Life is a huge call. But I'm making it, and I will be back to Gianni's Kitchen to try more of their 'Eat Well, Live Well' way of life.
